Library FAQs

1. How late are you open on Fridays?

We are open until 4:30 p.m. on Fridays.

2. Where can I find the Purple Sheet?

The Purple Sheet is available at the Information Desk. Pick up a copy the next time you are in the Library.

3. How can I access JSTOR from home?

First, you need to set up an individual, MyJSTOR account from a George School computer. Select a username and password that you will remember.

Once you are off-campus, go to: http://www.jstor.org and follow the prompts for login, using the username and password that you selected when you were on campus.

4. Do I need to bring my books into the Library when I want to renew them?

No. We can renew your books by scanning your George School ID card. So, just remember to bring in your card and we will be pleased to renew your materials.

5. Why won’t you tell me who has a book checked out?

Libraries respect confidentiality and are committed to protecting a person’s right to borrow and read whatever they would like.

6. How much do you charge for overdue fines?

We don’t charge overdue fines. However, we will charge the replacement cost for a book if it is damaged or lost, or not returned at the end of the year.

7. Can I use my cell phone in the Library?

Not during Study Hall, but yes, during the day provided you speak quietly and are respectful of others.

8. Why can’t I eat my sandwich in the Library?

Sandwiches are too messy and smelly for the Library. We are also considerate of our cleaning staff that would have to clean up the trash associated with sandwiches and other foods.
