The summer assignment has two components that students need to complete before they return in the fall.

1. Research Workbook

Students who are planning on taking Newspaper as their IB Visual Art SL or HL are expected to complete 30 research workbook pages over the course of the summer.

There is a Research Workbook Checklist (RSC) and students should read through it thoroughly and completely to make sure they are completing their assignments correctly.

If you were unable to purchase your sketchbook at the GS bookstore please go to this website and order one as soon as possible.

You need to purchase the book with pages that are 8.5 x 11 inches. Basically – letter sized page.

Please keep in mind that on the RSC it is noted that you need to write 5 pages each week. This is a very real scenario.

Write 5 journal entries each week X six weeks of summer break = 30 pages!

2. Artist Statement

Students are required to write their own Artist Statement this summer. IF you are a second year student you are required to revisit your artist statement that you wrote previously and make adjustments according to where you are at with your artwork, your perspective of your work and your relationship with your chosen art discipline.

Handouts were made available at the end of year IB orientation. If you were not able to attend the orientation these notes are attached.
