Optional Assignment:

If you have the textbook (The Practice of Statistics, 2nd edition by Yates, Moore, and Starnes) and want to get a head start, read chapters 5 and 1 (in that order) and take reading notes, paying particular attention to the vocabulary in Chapter 5. This reading will be assigned in the first weeks, and so doing it before school starts will lighten your load a bit at the beginning of the course.
