Applying for Financial Aid
In determining a family’s financial need, the George School Financial Aid Committee follows guidelines developed by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) that are measured by School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS by NAIS). We then evaluate this information and apply our own institutional methodology and financial aid policies.
Many factors are considered in the financial aid review including income, assets, allowable debts (not consumer debt), certain family expenses, family size, and number of children enrolled in tuition-charging schools. In addition, unless there are extenuating circumstances, George School assumes that both parents will be employed. In cases of separation, divorce, or where parents have never been married, both parents must submit all forms.
Financial aid is awarded on a yearly basis. Families are required to apply and demonstrate financial need for each year of enrollment. The Financial Aid Committee begins announcing financial aid awards in March for the upcoming academic year. We continue awarding aid as funds remain available. In order to apply for financial aid, please follow the steps below.
STEP 1: Visit the School and Student Service (SSS by NAIS) website. You will need the George School SSS Code: 3364
STEP 2: Click on the prompt to begin your Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). Complete the form and submit online. Upon completion, you will be given a password that will allow you to return to your PFS at a later date.
STEP 3: Upload or mail the following required supporting documentation to SSS by NAIS by the designated deadlines (Returning students February 1; new students February 15). On each document, write the student’s name, “George School,” and the PFS ID# you were assigned. Please include the PFS documentation coversheet with any supporting documents.
