Steps to Applying

Confucius said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” The application process is the first step towards being a part of the George School community…actually it is seven steps. This section will walk you through the process and help answer many of your questions.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FOR QUAKER APPLICANTS:
If you or at least one of your parents is a member of the Religious Society of Friends, download and submit the Clerk's Recommendation. To learn about scholarships specifically available for Quakers, click here

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS WHO ARE NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS:
Some of our international applicants are native English speakers or non-native speakers who are fluent in English. Other international applicants will need to further develop their English proficiency before being prepared to study in our mainstream program.

If you are not a native English speaker, we need to determine your appropriate level of English study. Therefore, if your primary language of academic instruction has not been in English for the past four or more years, you will need to complete the English proficiency testing as part of the supplemental requirements for non-native English speakers

There are usually only 6 or 7 openings for new students from any one country or foreign language group. This means that sometimes there are no spaces for new students in the upper grades. Please contact the Admission Office before applying for 10th or 11th grade. We will be happy to advise you about the availability of space for students of your language group.

George School accepts three forms of English proficiency testing (TOEFL, SLEP, and IELTS). Please register for one of these tests and have the results sent directly to George School by the testing organization.  We find that the TOEFL test provides us with a more accurate measure of a student’s English language proficiency than the SLEP test. For this reason, we strongly encourage applicants to submit TOEFL scores. George School's TOEFL code: 8138
