Eyes on the Earth Exhibition

CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION

Eyes on the Earth: Sustainability Through the Eyes of Artists

George School announces an open call for entries for the exhibition “Eyes on the Earth: Sustainability Through the Eyes of Artists,” to be held from October 15 to November 26, 2009. Artists whose photography, painting and drawing, ceramics, or woodworking focuses on the global issue of sustainability are invited to submit their work for consideration.

The exhibition will celebrate the opening of George School’s learning commons and Mollie Dodd Anderson Library—a new, green academic facility that is designed to earn gold-level certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, the national standard for environmentally friendly building design, construction, and operation.

The exhibition will be juried by Stephen Perloff, the editor of The Photo Review; Barbara Kilpatrick, a New York-based artist who focuses on multimedia; and Derek Bernstein, a prolific artist/painter who resides in Bucks County.

Eligibility
Artists eighteen years of age and older whose photography, ceramics, painting and drawing, or woodworking focuses on issues of sustainability may submit five digital images to be considered for the exhibition.

Preparing Your Digital Files
Entrants may submit five digital images saved as “jpeg” files. Submissions may be either sent via email or saved on a CD-ROM and mailed. Prepare the images for submission as follows:

2. Crop out mats, frames, etc.
3. Crop the image so that the longest dimension is 900 pixels.
4. Be sure to set the resolution at 72 ppi.
5. Label the image using last name, first letter of first name, and the number that corresponds to the entry form image (e.g. JonesP1 for Pam Jones’s first image).

Information Needed with Your Submission
For emailed submissions, please be sure to include “Sustainability” in the subject line. Within the body of your email, list items 1 through 6 (below) for each image. For mailed submissions, please accompany your CD-ROM with a document that lists these items for each image:
