  • George School vs Shipley School - Tue 12/06/2011 @ 4:00 PM

    Win  45-25
The 2011-12 George School basketball team started the year out on an excellent note, defeating Shipley, 45-25. After trailing 20-19 at halftime, the team came out determined to play better defense and push the tempo on offense. Co-captains Jake Seiler and Jibri Loving led all scorers with 13 and 11 points respectively. Timofei Kharisov contributed 10 points and Nick Colando did an excellent job running the offense, ending the game with 7 points. This win was truly a team effort, as everyone on the team played significant minutes and contributed to shutting down Shipley in the second half. The team is looking forward to the next challenge at Westtown this Friday afternoon.

  • George School vs Westtown School - Fri 12/09/2011 @ 4:00 PM

    Win  38-31
The Freshman team put in another solid performance against arch-rival Westtown Friday afternoon. After a lethargic first half which ended with a 13-12 score, the boys came out inspired in the second half. The whole team did a good job pushing the tempo with a very successful full court press that caused numerous Westtown turnovers. Co-captain Jake Seiler led the team with 13 points. Asa Cadwallader and James Steen contributed with crucial second half baskets. Once again, this success was a whole team effort. Every member of the team played significant minutes and made several positive contributions. The boys will have a few days of practice to hone their games before a tough matchup with Abington Friends before the Holiday Break.

  • George School vs Perkiomen School (Sports Center) - Tue 12/13/2011 @ 3:45 PM

    Win  44-30
The Freshman team had another outstanding showing Tuesday in the Sports Center against Perkiomen. The boys came out with energy and aggression, and a successful full court press led to easy baskets and a 16-1 first quarter lead. All five starters (Nick Colando, Jake Seiler, Jibri Loving, Alex Bariahtaris, Timofei Kharisov) did an excellent job setting the tone. The rest of the team showed little letdown once that tone was set. Daniel Ott was very impressive off the bench, scoring valuable points and gathering even more valuable rebounds. The whole team played extensively, and everyone is looking forward to a tough contest Thursday against Abington Friends, our last game before the Holiday Break.

  • George School vs Abington Friends School (Sports Center) - Thu 12/15/2011 @ 4:00 PM

    Loss  38-39
The Freshman team lost a closely contested game to an older, more experienced Abington Friends team that mixed Freshman and JV Players. After getting out to a 21-17 halftime lead by Alex Bariahtaris and Timofei Kharisov each scoring 5 points, the team struggled to contain the Abington JV players in the second half. The game came down to the final seconds, and all of the boys agreed afterward they were looking forward to challenging themselves in close games like this in the New Year.

  • George School vs Westtown School (Alumni Gym) - Fri 01/13/2012 @ 4:00 PM

    Win  39-37
The Freshman team triumphed in a tight contest against arch-rival Westtown. Led by the stingy defense of Asa Cadwallader and Timofei Kharisov, the Cougar defense produced multiple turnovers. Nick Colando's two clutch free throws sealed the victory for GS.

  • George School vs Shipley School (Sports Center) - Thu 01/19/2012 @ 4:30 PM

    Win  38-23
The Freshman team produced an outstanding team effort against a more physically mature Shipley squad. Asa Cadwallader led all scorers with 12 points, and Charles Williams, Daniel Ott, and Nick Colando all knocked down 3 pointers. The team played exceptional defense in the Second and Third Quarters, holding Shipley to just 3 points!

  • George School vs The Lewis School of Princeton (Sports Center) - Thu 01/26/2012 @ 3:45 PM

    Win  31-21
The boys survived a tepid shooting performance from the field and after a tight first 3 quarters were able to pull away. George School's intimidating full court press caused numerous turnovers and led to some easy points. Again, this victory was a total team effort. The most impressive statistic was the 70% free throw shooting; a dramatic departure from some games earlier in the year. I'm excited the boys are showing signs of improvement playing defense as a team and look forward to the last few games of the season.

  • George School vs Abington Friends School - Mon 01/30/2012 @ 4:00 PM

    Loss  35-38
After trailing the entire game and scoring a paltry 16 points in the first three quarters, the boys picked up their intensity and managed an impressive 18 points in the final quarter, sending the game into overtime. Again, hustling team defense was the difference, with multiple easy baskets coming off turnovers. The energy expended getting back in the game proved costly in overtime, as the boys managed only one point. As I said after the game, they should hold their heads high: they played confidently against an older, more physically mature team and held their own.

  • George School vs The Lewis School of Princeton - Tue 02/14/2012 @ 3:45 PM

    Win  41-16
The George School Freshman team ended on a high note, defeating Lewis School 41-16. The final score does not indicate how close the game was. After holding a slim 15-13 lead at halftime, the boys clamped down on defense in the second half, allowing only 3 points! This show of team defense was indicative of the reason these boys were successful this year: when they played as a team, they were a force to be reckoned with.
