Who does the center serve?

George School employees and the greater community may apply to have their children cared for at the center.

What is your school year?

GSCC is an academic year program that begins after Labor Day and ends in mid-June. We are closed for the summer.

What are your hours of operation?

The center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

How many children does your program accommodate?

Our center serves 48 children. We have one class for each age group.

Do you have a waiting list?

From time to time, we have a waiting list for some age groups.

Do the children go outside to play?

We go outside nearly every day.

Do children have to nap?

All of our extended day children nap every afternoon. Children who don't sleep rest quietly on their mats and at some point are allowed to have nap toys or books.

Do you teach children about Quakerism?

No, but we will teach children about the things we believe. We will teach about simplicity, non-violence, respect for others, and the ability to make a difference in the world.

Do you have a high level of staff turnover?

Our full time staff is very stable. We have teachers who have been with the program since 1990.

What are the staff qualifications?

Our director has a Director's credential. The lead teachers have either associate's or bachelor's degrees in early childhood education or a related field. Many of the assistant teachers have college degrees, as well.

Are teachers trained in first aid and CPR?

The center provides bi-annual training for all staff.

Is a discount available for siblings?

A 10% discount is given for the second child.

How is tuition collected?

There is a yearly tuition, payable in one sum or in 10 monthly installments beginning in August.

Do you serve lunch and snacks?

Children bring their own lunches. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.

There is a yearly snack fee of $50. Occasionally there are other activity fees.
