George School Begins 111th Year of Operation

Issued: Friday, August 27, 2004

George School will begin its 111th year of operation with registration for all new students on Saturday, September 4. Returning boarding students will register on Sunday, September 5, while returning day students will join the rest of the student body for the start of classes on Monday, September 6.

The Parents Association will coordinate a Buddy Family lunch on Saturday for new students and their families. Now in its third year, the Buddy Family program matches local families with families who come to George School from a distance. The pairs meet for the first time at the lunch so they can share their experiences and stay connected as the students progress at George School.

A special all-school assembly will be held on Monday, September 6, for students and faculty. It will include a welcome-back address from Head of School Nancy Starmer in which new faculty and staff will be introduced.

With the start of classes, students will be walking across a new 260-foot brick and bluestone walkway for the first time. Donated by the Class of 1977 in honor of their deceased classmates, the walkway covers the main campus thoroughfare between Main and Bancroft buildings.
