George School is proud to announce that four students were selected as semifinalists in the 2005 National Merit Scholarship Program based on their performance on the 2003 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). In addition, 25 students who were high scorers on the test received letters of commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.
As semifinalists, seniors Ethan Alguire, Hannah Buettner, Elizabeth Katz, and Abigail Rogers are among 16,000 high school seniors who will have the opportunity to proceed in the competition for the approximately 8,200 Merit Scholarship awards that will be given this spring. George School's commended students (listed below) scored among the top five percent of the over 1.3 million juniors in United States high schools who entered the 2005 National Merit Program by taking the 2003 PSAT/NMSQT.
Founded in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Program is a privately-financed annual academic competition for recognition and scholarships.
