George School Faculty and Alumni Listen to Diverse Voices During Middle East Trip

Issued: Friday, March 11, 2005

A group made up of George School faculty and alumni and Quakers from the Philadelphia area will return to the George School campus on Monday, March 28, 2005, from a two-week listening pilgrimage to the Middle East.

With travel in Israel and the West Bank, the pilgrimage is designed to deepen its participants' understandings of the current conflict by bringing them into contact with a broad range of people with diverse viewpoints. The travelers will stay in the homes of Palestinian and Israeli families in order to gain a human perspective on daily life in the region. They will also meet with political figures and visit various historic, cultural, religious, and academic sites, as well as peace organizations such as Seeds of Peace and a Christian Peacemaker Team.

The ten members of the listening pilgrimage include Chip Poston, the head of George School's religion department; Polly Lodge, a George School science teacher; John Hunt, a former George School Committee chairperson; Ben LeFever, a 1990 George School graduate and current associate director of the school's Business Office; Jeff Rogers, a 2000 George School graduate; Hannah Poston, a 2003 George School graduate; and Ellie Poston, a current George School senior.
