A bus will bring relatives of soldiers killed in Iraq or currently serving in the military, veterans of the Iraq war, and veterans of previous wars to speak at the George School Meetinghouse on Thursday, September 15, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. The speakers are part of a tour sponsored by Gold Star Families for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Military Families Speak Out, and Veterans for Peace, an organization that advocates peaceful alternatives to all wars. Organized in association with the "Bring Them Home Now!" campaign, which aims to put pressure on all politicians and elected officials to end the war in Iraq, the tour began in Crawford, Texas, on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, and is scheduled to end in Washington, DC, on Saturday, September 24.

"As a Friends school, George School teaches students about Quakers' historic commitment to nonviolence and peacemaking. Discussion of the role of war in our world is always relevant to our educational mission, as is the respectful exploration of diverse opinions," Head of School Nancy Starmer said. "This visit will offer our students an opportunity to engage with a current event in an immediate way and thus become more active citizens of the United States and of the world, no matter what their political persuasion."
