George School is proud to announce that senior Ruben Davis has been named a finalist in the 2006 National Achievement Scholarship Program. As a finalist, Ruben is among approximately 1,300 high school seniors remaining in the competition for about 800 Achievement Scholarship awards that will be given this spring.
More than 130,000 students requested consideration in the 2006 National Achievement Program when they took the 2004 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. In the fall of 2005, semifinalists in the competition were chosen on the basis of their 2004 PSAT/NMSQT scores and for each geographical region designated by the National Achievement Scholarship Program. In order to advance from semifinalist to finalist status, Ruben had to meet various requirements, including a record of consistently high academic performance for grades nine through twelve and high SAT scores.
Founded in 1964, the National Achievement Scholarship Program is a privately financed annual academic competition established specifically to honor outstanding Black American high school students.
