GS Composting: Food Goes Full Circle

Issued: Tuesday, September 16, 2008Author: Joan HellyerPublication: Bucks County Courier Times

The Bucks County Courier Times featured George School's newly expanded on-campus composting program on its home page.  The program was created through the joint efforts of TERRA (George School’s student environmental group) and the school’s food service and grounds departments. It brings over a thousand pounds of otherwise landfill-bound garbage from the kitchen and dining room to the campus compost heap each week.

In this photo, Kenishea Donaldson (left) dumps the food left over from her lunch into the compost bin set up in the cafeteria at the George School as Nia Imani-Farrar waits for her. The food is then taken to a compost heap on school property. (Photo courtesy of the Bucks County Courier Times)
