George School Student Wins $10,000 Scholarship from Latina Magazine and Maybelline New York

Issued: Monday, April 7, 2008

George School senior Eliza Catalino is one of five winners nationwide in the Latina and Maybelline New York Opportunities Through Education Scholarship Contest. Chosen from over nine hundred contest entrants on the basis of a personal essay and her academic record, Eliza will receive a $10,000 scholarship for college.

Eliza is featured alongside the other winners in the April 2008 issue of Latina magazine. She and the other winners were honored at a recent event in New York City, where they had the opportunity to network with Latina businesswomen and listen to a keynote speech by Today show co-anchor and national correspondent Natalie Morales.

About George School
Founded in 1893 by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), George School, a rigorous coed boarding and day school for grades nine through twelve, educates students from twenty-two states, twenty-seven foreign countries, and a variety of ethnic, racial, religious, and economic backgrounds. Through its commitment to diversity and the Quaker values of equality, integrity, and peacemaking, George School inspires students to be led by their own truths while respecting and appreciating opinions and beliefs different from their own. George School was one of the first schools in the United States to implement an International Baccalaureate diploma program.
