George School Theater Students Present The Rimers of Eldritch

Issued: Friday, February 15, 2008

George School theater students will present The Rimers of Eldritch—a drama by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson—on Friday, February 22, and Saturday, February 23, at 8:00 p.m. in Walton Center Auditorium. The show is free and open to the public.

The play centers on a mysterious murder in a small Midwestern town. Through a non-chronological structure with recurring dialogue and scenes, the play reveals the identity of the murderer while exploring the consequences of intolerance, hypocrisy, and dishonesty in the lives of the townspeople. The Rimers of Eldritch employs themes that are characteristic of Lanford Wilson's work, such as conformity and the predicament of social outcasts.

As with all mainstage productions at George School, direction is by theater teacher Maureen West, costumes are by Liz Lukac, and sets are designed by Scott Hoskins and built by his Stagecraft classes.

About George School

Through its commitment to diversity and the Quaker values of equality, integrity, and peacemaking, George School inspires students to be led by their own truths while respecting and appreciating opinions and beliefs different from their own. George School was one of the first schools in the United States to implement an International Baccalaureate diploma program.
