George School
science teacher Polly Lodge was photographed by
The Intelligencer Now while she kayaked along the Neshaminy Creek as a participant in the 13th Annual Delaware Estuary Watershed Teacher Workshop. A week-long program that offers classroom and field experiences, the workshop allows teachers to explore the Delaware Estuary Watershed and trains them to bring watershed education to their students.
Through activities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, the workshop offered teachers the opportunity to analyze the relationship between different segments of the watershed, study the differences between urban and rural watersheds and learn how daily activities affect them, explore wetlands and their functions, learn how to measure the health of a body of water, collect and identify fish and macroinvertebrates in local creeks, tour an oil spill recovery vessel used on the Delaware River, and more.
