George School's Community Chorus, Chorale, and Orchestra will present their annual concert on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. in the George School Meetinghouse. The event is free and open to the public.

The Community Chorus—an intergenerational group open to all members of the school community, as well as neighbors and friends from the local community—will perform several pieces with the Chorale, a smaller student group. Their selections will include Requiem by Gabriel Fauré and "He, Watching Over Israel" from the oratorio Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn, presented in honor of the composer's 200th birthday. The Chorale will also perform some pieces alone, including "Exultate Deo," a motet by Renaissance composer Alessandro Scarlatti.

Highlights of the Orchestra performance will include "Song Without Words" by Gustav Holst, "Toccata" by Girolamo Frescobaldi, and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" by Hans Zimmer. Made up of students who play string, wind, and percussion instruments, George School's Orchestra performs a varied repertoire ranging from Renaissance music to modern compositions.
