GS Alumna Shines in Soccer and Lacrosse

The Virginian-Pilot highlights Lisa Bernardini '08, a sophomore at Old Dominion University (ODU). "A second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association defender on the soccer team this past fall, Bernardini is in the midst of lacrosse season with the Lady Monarchs. The sleek, 5-foot-7 sophomore leads ODU in scoring with 21 goals and 12 assists," reports Rich Radford. On a soccer scholarship at ODU, Lisa had to ask her soccer coach if she could play lacrosse. "With his blessing, she crosses over in the spring. The urge to play more than one sport is in her blood," says Rich. At George School, in addition to setting records for lacrosse, Lisa was the soccer team's leading scorer in each of her four seasons, and she served as a guard on the basketball team.

The article also mentions Lisa's mother, George School girls' athletic director Nancy Bernardini. Rich writes that Nancy "was a three-sport standout at Ursinus College, where she played basketball, field hockey and lacrosse. Read more
