Members of the George School community are invited to join an ongoing conversation about the school’s
equestrian program by participating in an online survey between November 17 and 23, 2010, and attending a meeting to discuss survey results on Monday, November 29, at 2:30 p.m. in the Mollie Dodd Anderson Library Conference Room. To receive survey access information and/or to sign up for the meeting, please contact Michelle Ruess, development associate, at
michelle_ruess@georgeschool.org or 215.579.6571.
The survey and discussion will help the George School Committee, the governing board of the school, as it develops a capital project to support our current and future student-athletes through improvements in facilities. An important component of this project focuses on possible investments in our equestrian program.
The survey and discussion are the latest of several exciting developments for the George School Equestrian Center. Last spring, its two outdoor riding rings were
resurfaced through an informal fundraising campaign led by Shelley Bitzer, p ’10 and ’11, and Michele Peruto, p ’12, an effort that raised $30,000. At the start of this academic year, the barn was enhanced through power-cleaning and whitewashing.
In addition, during the past year, the equestrian program has been restructured so that it is fully integrated into George School’s athletics program and physical plant management.
George School looks forward to hearing the ideas and insights of those whose lives have been touched by this special program.
