Celebration for Accepted Students
George School invites all applicants who have been offered admission for the 2010-2011 academic year to the Celebration for Accepted Students on Sunday, March 28, 2010.

“The best way to decide if a school is right for you is to spend time on campus,” explains Director of Admission Jenna Davis '78. "The celebration is a first chance for accepted students to imagine what it will be like to attend George School with one another. It is an exciting day!"

The day begins with registration and refreshments at 1:30 p.m. in the historic George School Meetinghouse. Nancy Starmer, head of school, will welcome applicants and their families at 2:00 p.m.

Students then participate in a series of twenty-minute classes while families will attend sessions that explore unique aspects of academics, arts, athletics, and student life at George School. Afterwards, everyone reconvenes in the meetinghouse for refreshments and remarks that conclude by 4:30 p.m.

This year, prospective students from 34 states and 35 counties applied for admission. For the second consecutive year, George School received a record number of applications. "We are thrilled with this year's accepted student cohort",” says Director of Enrollment Management Ari Betof '98. "Each accepted applicant brings a set of gifts and skills as well as a unique world-view."

The celebration events take place in many of the campus buildings. One of the highlights is the George School Meetinghouse, which was moved brick by brick from the corner of Twelfth and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia and reassembled in its current home on campus in 1974. Another is the new Learning Commons and Anderson Library which opened September 2009 and is designed to earn gold-level certification under the LEED system—the national standard for environmentally friendly building design, construction, and operation.
