George School’s staff-written
news has been recognized with a positive mention in the
judges’ report for “Excellence in News Writing: General News Writing,” a category in the 2010 Circle of Excellence awards program. Run by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the Circle of Excellence is an international awards program that provides professional recognition for outstanding work in institutional advancement at CASE member schools, colleges, universities, and educational associations.
George School is the only independent school recognized in the “Excellence in News Writing” category this year. The judges’ report cited George School as an entrant that “illustrated a clear understanding of the needs of [its] specialized target audiences and the media in story selection and repurposing of releases for the web, alumni publications, and the like.”
George School’s entry was composed of five press releases written by Juliana Rosati, public relations and special events director. The press releases were planned by Juliana in collaboration with Odie LeFever, director of advancement marketing, and Susan Quinn, executive editor of the George School website and editor of the
Georgian.
With a membership of nearly 3,400 colleges and universities, primary and secondary independent and international schools, and nonprofit organizations in 59 countries, CASE is one of the world’s largest nonprofit educational associations in terms of institutional membership.
