GS Teacher Terry Culleton Gives Poetry Reading

Issued: Wednesday, February 3, 2010

George School English teacher and former Bucks County Poet Laureate Terry Culleton will present selections of his poetry at a Bucks County Community College reading on Friday, February 12, 2010. Scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Orangery on the college’s Newtown campus, the reading is free and open to the public. Poets Marie Kane and Eugene Howard will also read at the event, which is part of the college’s Wordsmiths Reading Series.

Terry, who has published in a variety of poetry journals and magazines, reads his work frequently in Bucks and Montgomery Counties and the Philadelphia area. His poetry has been featured several times on National Public Radio.

At George School, Terry teaches Freshman Literature and Composition and a higher-level International Baccalaureate (IB) English class that is designed specifically for creative writers. Entitled “World Literature—Writer’s Focus,” the class offers students the opportunity to study a variety of world authors while developing their own creative writing and submitting it to the class for workshop-style critique sessions. Terry is also the faculty sponsor of Argo, George School’s student literary magazine.

For more information about the reading, call Bucks County Community College at 215.968.8159.
