GS to Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Issued: Friday, December 17, 2010

Alumni and parents are invited to campus on Monday, January 17, 2011, to join students, faculty, and staff in George School’s twenty-second annual commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

After a morning class period, the celebration will begin in Walton Center Auditorium with an all-school assembly program featuring the screening of The Prep School Negro, a documentary film by Andre Robert Lee. Following the assembly, workshop sessions on campus will encourage participants to discuss the themes of the documentary and reflect on Dr. King’s message of multiculturalism, diversity, and peace. The day will conclude with an all-school meeting for worship in the afternoon. More information about the event will appear on the George School website as the date approaches.
