Bucks Local News reports that Ashley Choi '12 has been
named the 2010 Bucks County High School Poet of the Year by the Bucks County Poet Laureate Program. In the article, 2008 Bucks County Poet Laureate Paula Raimondo says of Ashley, “This poet has an understanding of craft—by which I mean, moreover, that she understands the possibilities of form: to open, clarify, illuminate, rather than limit or contain a subject.” Paula Raimondo, who judged the Bucks County High School Poet of the Year contest with current Bucks County Poet Laureate Bernadette McBride, also remarks of Ashley's poems, “My first reaction was: I wonder what else this poet has written!” Ashley's winning poems, which she wrote in her George School English class, were chosen from over ninety submissions from twenty county high schools.
