Singing actor Harry Danner ’57 is featured for his theatrical career and dedication to his college glee club in
Dickinson Magazine, the alumni publication of Harry’s alma mater Dickinson College. At the college in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Harry directed the glee club, performed in student groups, and majored in political science. He went on to an acting career that brought him to Broadway in the chorus of
Bajour, across the country on tour as the leading man in the operetta
The Student Prince, and to singing engagements at the White House and with the Boston Pops. Harry has played a number of roles on the small and silver screens. For years he has been a regular at reunions of Dickinson’s glee club.
The article notes that Harry began his career as a George School student. “Harry . . . made the most of the Quaker school’s large theater and music department,” writes
Dickinson Magazine author Sherri Kimmel. His activities at George School included orchestra and the choral double octet, a vocal group of experienced singers who performed a challenging repertoire. The caption of his senior-year photo in
Opus, the school yearbook, says, “If it’s music, Harry’s in it.”
The Dickinson feature includes an audio slideshow of highlights from Harry’s career.
