
The
New York Times recently profiled conceptual and installation artist Karen Kimmel ’84, who has launched Kimmel Kids, a new line of educational art tools and toys for children. In the interview, entitled “Talking With the Artist Karen Kimmel,” Karen explains why she believes children should be encouraged to use their imaginations. “The practice of abstract problem-solving and abstract thinking is something you need for everyday life,” Karen says in the piece. She also speaks about the purposes of her first Kimmel Kids product and of the creativity workshops she leads for families. Karen and her husband, James Bond, formerly owned a Los Angeles gallery and retail space called KBond.
