Students Honored by National Hispanic Recognition Program

Issued: Sunday, October 31, 2010

George School is proud to announce that seniors Jamifel Pacheco of Bronx, New York, and Andrew Chavez of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, have received Honorable Mentions in the 2010-11 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP), an academic program designed to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students.

Jamifel and Andrew are among nearly 5,000 students who have been selected for recognition by the NHRP this year from a pool of more than 200,000 students who entered the program by taking the 2009 PSAT/NMSQT and identifying themselves as Hispanic/Latino. The NHRP’s honors are awarded on the basis of students’ 2009 PSAT/NMSQT scores and their academic records. A list of the students honored in the program is distributed to subscribing colleges and universities.

Jamifel and Andrew are enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, a rigorous and challenging curriculum offered at George School.
