Students Successful in Scholastic Art Contest
More than fifteen George School Painting and Drawing students were honored for their artwork by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Their work will be on display at Gershman Hall at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania later this month.

The submissions are judged by a group of established literary and visual artists who look for work that demonstrates originality, technique, and the presence of an individual voice or vision.

Maggie Chen ’15 and Emily Sohn ’14 received Gold Key awards for their work, the highest recognition offered in the regional competition. Their work will be automatically entered in judging for national-level recognition. The national awards will be announced on March 15, 2013.

Kailin Dong ’15, Joe Martin ’15, Katie McDonough ’15, Katie Morgan ’14, Sophie Myles ’14, and Maddy Wiley ’13 all received silver key awards. Only 10-15 percent of regional submissions are honored with a silver key award.

The final group of students to receive recognition received an honorable mention. Honorable mention by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards recognizes students with artistic potential. Natalia Eldering ’14, Maggie Ellis ’13, Jake Fisher ’14, Yaseen Lotfi ’13, Joe Martin ’15, Raphaela Tayvah ’13, Mengqi Wang ’13, and Maddy Wiley ’13 all received an honorable mention.
