Day of Service Honors Legacy of Dr. King
Driven by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s message of “Everybody can be great because anybody can serve,” George School students, faculty, and staff spent a day in service to local communities. To celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King, George School organized service opportunities at thirty-two sites throughout Philadelphia, Bucks County, and New Jersey. Read more.
John Gleeson Celebrated at February Event
Having spent decades influencing students in the classroom and on the playing fields, John Gleeson will be honored February 25, 2012 at the first in a series of events celebrating the legendary coaches for whom the new Cougar Track and Cougar Field will be dedicated later this year. Read more.
Varsity Swimming Defeats Abington Friends
“The George School swim teams are riding a wave,” reports Karen Sangillo of the Bucks County Courier Times. After defeating Westtown last Friday, the boys defeated Abington Friends School, 81-49, while the girls won, 47-18, in a double dual meet on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Read more.
Student Photos to be in Drexel Exhibit
Six George School photography students had work selected for the 2011 Drexel University High School Photography Contest Exhibit. The images are among 140 chosen from more than 1,850 photographs submitted by high school students across the United States. Read more.
International Students Share Cultural Art Forms
International students attending George School come together each year to present a collection of performances which share elements of their cultures with the community. On Friday, January 13, 2012, students performed traditional and contemporary art forms ranging from a classic hat dance from Vietnam to hip-hop renditions of popular Asian music. Read more.
Alumni Share Memories at Philadelphia Gathering
About forty George School alumni, parents, and friends gathered at the Public House in Philadelphia on Thursday, January 5, 2012 to share laughter and memories with old friends and faculty. Read more.
Investment Club Speaker Receives Award
Popular George School Investment Club speaker, John Spears has recently received national attention by being named an international stock manager of the year by Morningstar, Inc. Charlie Palmiotti ’12, co-president of the George School Investment Club, said John’s 2011 visit and question and answer session with students was a real boost for the club. Read more.
