Register for Alumni Weekend May 13, 14, and 15
Return and reconnect at Alumni Weekend 2011. The celebration is filled with community-wide events designed for all alumni—not just reunion classes—as well as current students, parents, and faculty. Enjoy your favorite Saturday events, such as the All-Alumni Gathering, reunion photos, and alumni games. For Friday and Sunday, current students, parents, and faculty are planning new weekend activities including square-dancing and an all-community fair. Mack Lipkin to Receive Alumni Award
A graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Medical School, Mack Lipkin '61 developed the Lipkin model of psychosocial education, a widely-used method of teaching the doctor-patient relationship. Due to his accomplishments in the field of medicine and beyond, George School selected him to receive an Alumni Award on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the All-Alumni Gathering during Alumni Weekend. Sheena Wright to Receive Alumni Award
As President and CEO of the Harlem-based Abyssinian Development Corporation (ADC), Sheena Wright ’86 has dedicated the last nine years to developing Harlem’s community and economy. Her achievements motivated George School to select her to receive an Alumni Award on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the All-Alumni Gathering during Alumni Weekend. Read more.
Claudie Fischer Plans to Retire
Members of the George School community will gather together at the All-Alumni Gathering on Alumni Weekend, Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the meetinghouse to honor and thank Claudie Fischer for the thirty-four years of work, love, and service that she has devoted to the school and community. “Claudie’s Francophilia, demanding but warm approach in the classroom, organization and precision, unflappable demeanor, and classy style will be greatly missed,” said Dean of Faculty and Director of Studies Scott Spence. Pam Grumbach to Retire at School Year End
Arts Department Head Pam Grumbach announced plans to retire at the end of the 2010-11 school year after more than three decades at George School. Members of the George School community will honor her during Alumni Weekend on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the All-Alumni Gathering in the meetinghouse. “Pam has a gift for holding students to challenging and productive artistic expectations, while providing a fun classroom environment,” says Dean of Faculty and Director of Studies Scott Spence.
