Ning Yuan Yu
Language Department
Joined George School in 2007
“I enjoy the George School community and its relaxed lifestyle. The students have fun, and I like seeing American students and Chinese students together, learning from each other.”
What do you hope to accomplish through all you do at George School?
By teaching the Chinese language, I hope that people from different parts of the world will get to know each other better.
By teaching tai chi, I hope to show how Chinese language connects with Chinese movement.
By being an advisor for students from China and Taiwan, I can help smooth their way, especially communicating with parents who may not speak English.
And as the faculty advisor for the Chinese Club, I enjoy bringing native Chinese speakers together with students in my Chinese classes—to celebrate Chinese festivals and to improve their understanding of one another’s language and culture.
As the global relationship between America and China becomes even more important, as more and more students from China come to the U.S. and more American students go to China, the Chinese language will be a bridge that brings them together, peacefully—part of the mission of George School.
