Day Student
“In Colette Weber’s Advanced English class one day, we discussed whether we would want to have dinner with a murderer who contemplated his murders or with one who committed them spontaneously. That may sound odd, but Colette connected the conversation to Macbeth and made the learning fun.”
What advice would you give a new student?
Try as many things at George School as possible—from food to activities to classes—and appreciate every experience.
I have tried an array of sports, which has let me meet new people each term and build relationships with coaches who have pushed me to try harder and get better.
Freshman year, I started ceramics to make pieces that I could use in everyday life, and I was inspired by the pieces advanced students made. Now I’m an advanced student.
In UMOJA, we have thought-provoking discussions that bring the students in the club together. Helping plan its dance really taught me responsibility and time management.
Being a peer group leader for incoming freshmen will also help me build on these skills. I hope to be someone who they can talk to and trust and also someone they can have fun with.
I’ve learned that the key is balancing all areas of my George School experience.
