International Student Orientation (ISO) 2012


The International Student Orientation (ISO), held at the end of August, offers opportunities to become familiar with George School, its surrounding area, and nearby historic Philadelphia. The ISO also includes an orientation to academic life at George School. 

Here is a selection of activities that will take place during the orientation. Students will receive a detailed schedule when they register:

Monday, August 27 
Arrow Narrow Student arrival and registration in Marshall Center between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. (follow signs)
Arrow Narrow Students move in to Campbell and Westwood dormitories (help will be available)
Arrow Narrow Head of School/Parents Association Welcome Reception (3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
Arrow Narrow Parents and students say goodbye (5:00 p.m.)

Tuesday, August 28
Arrow Narrow ESL Placement tests
Arrow Narrow Introduction to a GS classroom and the Meetinghouse
Arrow Narrow Meeting with Polly Lodge, Head of Science department
Arrow Narrow Shopping at a local mall

Wednesday, August 29 
Arrow Narrow Science Placement tests
Arrow Narrow Philadelphia tour

Thursday, August 30 
Arrow Narrow Meet with Registrar and auditions for Instrumental Music course
Arrow Narrow Meeting with advisors
Arrow Narrow Meet the Deans -- Workshop on school rules
Arrow Narrow Pizza dinner and mini-golf

Friday, August 31 
Arrow Narrow Breakfast with the Head of School
Arrow Narrow Move out of ISO dorm and move into yearlong dorm
Arrow Narrow Meeting with dorm teachers
Arrow Narrow Meeting with the Associate Head of School
Arrow Narrow Closing banquet and New Hope Stroll

Saturday, September 1 
Arrow Narrow New student orientation begins

The ISO tuition covers the cost of classes, activities, meals, and lodging. Transportation costs to campus are not covered by tuition. Spending money for personal items may also be needed.
