Commencement
Date: Sunday, May 27, 2012
Seniors arrive: 8:45 a.m.
Seniors must be dressed and in the Small Dining Room at 8:45 a.m. for the pinning of roses, photo, and line-up. The inclement weather location is the meetinghouse main floor.
Ceremony Time: 10:30 a.m.
Place: Outdoor Auditorium directly west of the meetinghouse at the base of South Lawn. Inclement weather location: Worth Sports Center, south of the meetinghouse. (If weather is uncertain the George School telephone operator will know the locations after 8:00 a.m.)
Attire: Seniors must be uniform in their attire. The girls must wear all-white, mid-calf or longer dresses (the elevation of the stage makes shorter dresses potentially embarrassing), a slip underneath the dress, and white shoes (white rubber flip-flops are not appropriate). It is important that the dresses be pure white, not ivory. Dresses should be at least four inches below the bottom of the knees. No off-white or colored trims, please. No bare midriffs or skin-tight clothing. Girls must have their dresses approved by Barb Kibler, Pam Machemer, Laurie Moyer, or Maureen West by Tuesday, April 24, 2012.

The boys’ commencement attire includes white dinner jackets, black bow ties, white shirts, black trousers, black shoes, and black socks. All jackets and ties must match. To make this easier, all the clothing (except for black socks) is rented from Rochester Formal Wear. They will come to campus for fittings. The charge to rent the white dinner jacket, black bow tie, white shirt, and black trousers is $75. For an additional $12, black shoes may be rented. These charges will be on your spring bill under incidental expenses.

Seniors are asked not to wear any additional clothing not listed above. If students are not properly attired, they will not be permitted to participate in commencement. If you have questions about specific clothing or shoes, Barb Kibler, Pam Machemer, Laurie Moyer, or Maureen West should be consulted for advice.
Class
Photograph:
A class photograph will be taken at 9:15 a.m. on South Porch, Main Building. The inclement weather location is in the meetinghouse. This photograph, a DVD of the commencement ceremonies, and a photo of your child receiving his or her diploma is available for purchase. Please click here if you wish to order these items.
Generations Photograph: In addition to the senior class photo, another group will be photographed after the senior class photo—seniors who have a parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent who attended George School. (Any of these alumni relatives are encouraged to join the students in this photograph. Plan to come to South Porch, Main Building, for the photo immediately after the 9:15 a.m. class photo.)
Guests: There is no limit to the number of people you may invite, but seating is limited if there is inclement weather. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

On a sunny day, it might get very hot sitting in the outdoor auditorium. Guests might want to wear a hat and sunscreen.

If you will need handicapped parking or seating, please call Tina DiSabatino in the Advancement Office at 215.579.6564 or send her an email at tina_disabatino@georgeschool.org so that we may accommodate you.

Miscellaneous Information

If the student has a TD Bank checking account
Please remind your child to report to the bank to update the status of his or her account by Friday, April 13, 2012. Graduating seniors who pass their eighteenth birthday before May 27, 2012, may keep their accounts active after graduation by completing a change of address form available at the student bank. However, they will no longer have access to their accounts through the student bank. Instead, these students will manage their accounts through ATM locations. Graduating seniors who will not pass their eighteenth birthday before May 27, 2012, must close out their accounts. We would encourage those who close their checking accounts to maintain a cash envelope at the student bank until the end of the school year. Please remind all students using the cash envelope system to close out their envelopes by Friday, May 25. The bank will be closed on the day of commencement. Larger amounts of cash may be kept in the Deans’ Office and picked up after commencement.
