A workshop for parents of current freshmen.
8:30–9:30 a.m. Family Structures Community Lounge, Retford
Maryann Hunter, a former George School parent and practicing psychoanalyst in New York City and Bucks County, facilitates a discussion of the impact on students of family changes such as separation, divorce, illness, or death.
8:30–9:30 a.m. Tips on College Life Barash Room, Main
In this panel discussion, George School parents with students in college share experiences and offer tips for helping your child and you adjust to college life.

Hear from current students and staff about the benefits of participating in service projects at home and abroad.

Note: This program is geared to juniors and their parents. All juniors must attend; junior parents are encouraged to attend. All other parents and students, schedules permitting, are welcome.
10:50–11:50 a.m. Planning a Course of Study for Sophomores Coffeehouse, Marshall Center
A workshop for parents of current sophomores.
10:50–11:50 a.m. Talking to Adolescents Barash Room, Main
Clinical psychologist Jeff Mitchell leads a discussion on the challenges of interacting with children during adolescence.
10:50–11:50 a.m. Quakerism Nepley Conference Room, Marshall Center
Learn about the way Quakerism influences life in and outside the classroom at George School.
11:20 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Teacher Conferences (10 minutes each) If you are not able to set up conferences in advance, you may arrange for phone conferences or you may set up appointments to meet on another day that is convenient for the teachers and you. Please feel free to call the teachers and advisors during the school week—Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.—throughout the year.
Course Planning Conferences (15 minutes each) If you are the parent of a freshman or sophomore and you have not talked to your child’s advisor about long-range course planning, you might want to arrange for a course planning conference with the director of studies or the registrar. Mid-Winter Break Mid-winter break begins after a student’s last school commitment on Friday, January 30. There are no classes on Monday, February 2, or Tuesday, February 3.
Boarders return to campus by 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3. Classes resume at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4.
