Visiting Day and Night October 2008


Please plan to join us on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Visit 15-minute classes in the morning to learn about the courses your children are taking, and attend an address by Head of School Nancy Starmer. Details about these and other activities are listed below.

Be sure to stop by to pick up your schedules. Any conference schedules not picked up by 11:30 a.m. will be available in Main Lobby at the mirror table.

Follow Your Child’s Schedule
Students are not required to attend classes on Visiting Day, but they are welcome to join you. (Student arrangement schedules are available at the Welcome Table.)

Classes meet as follows:
Arrangement 1   8:00–8:15 a.m.
Arrangement 2   8:25–8:40 a.m.
Arrangement 3   8:50–9:05 a.m.
Arrangement 4   9:15–9:30 a.m.
Arrangement 5   9:40–9:55 a.m.
Arrangement 6   10:05–10:20 a.m.
Arrangement 7   10:30–10:45 a.m.

Teacher Conferences (10 minutes each)
Teacher conferences are optional during Visiting Day since it is early in the school year. If you would like to discuss specific issues with one or more of your child’s teachers, you may request a meeting time. Advance scheduling required. Please contact Carol Wozniak by phone (215.579.6573) or by email for information.

If you are not able to set up conferences in advance, you may arrange for phone conferences or you may set up appointments to meet on another day that is convenient for the teachers and you. Please feel free to call the teachers (and advisors) during the school week—Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.—throughout the year.

1:30–2:30 p.m.
College Guidance Seminar for Parents of Seniors
Coffeehouse, Marshall Center
College Counselors Nancy Culleton, Tiffany Fujioka, and Pam Machemer will address senior parents’ questions on the nuts and bolts of the college application and financial aid process. Parents of juniors will have a special college guidance program on Friday, January 30 (Conference Day).

1:30–2:30 p.m.
Service Projects Seminar
First Floor, Meetinghouse
Foreign Language Trip Coordinator Claudie Fischer, Service Project Coordinator Bev Trautwein, and Dean of Faculty/Director of Studies Scott Spence talk about school-sponsored service projects and domestic and international service trip opportunities. Afternoon Athletic Events
1:00 p.m.   Boys Varsity Football vs. Elkton Christian Academy
1:30 p.m.   Girls Varsity Field Hockey vs. Morrisville High School

Fall Break
Fall break begins after a student’s last school commitment on Friday, October 17. There are no classes on Monday, October 20. Boarders return to campus by 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20. Classes resume at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21.
