Visiting Day and Night October 2011


Please plan to join us on Saturday, October 15, 2011 for Visiting Day. You may attend 15-minute classes in the morning to learn about the courses your child is taking, join Head of School Nancy Starmer for her annual address, and participate in informational seminars in the afternoon. A detailed schedule is below.

While it is still very early in the school year, optional teacher conferences are available on Visiting Day (Saturday, October 15) and also on Visiting Night (Tuesday, October 18) with advance scheduling only.  Online conference scheduling is available.

Visiting Day: Saturday, October 15, 2011

7:30–8:30 a.m.
Buffet Breakfast, Dining Room, Main

7:30–11:30 a.m.
Welcome Table, Lobby, Main
Be sure to stop by to pick up your schedule of arrangements and/or conferences. After 11:30 a.m. any conference schedules not picked up will be available in Main Lobby at the table under the mirror.

8:00–10:45 a.m.
Follow Your Child’s Schedule
Students are not required to attend classes on Visiting Day, but are welcome to join you. (Student arrangement schedules are available at the Welcome Table.)

Teacher Conferences (10 minutes each)
Teacher conferences are optional during Visiting Day since it is early in the school year. Advance scheduling is required. Online Conference scheduling is available.

If you are not able to set up conferences in advance, you may arrange for phone conferences or set up appointments to meet on another day that is convenient for the teachers and you. Please feel free to call the teachers (and advisors) during the school week—Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.—throughout the year.

Celebratory Remarks, Lunch Tent at Brown House Parking Lot

1:30–2:30 p.m.
College Guidance Seminar for Parents of Seniors, Coffeehouse, Marshall Center
College Counselors Nancy Culleton, Pam Machemer, and Rachel Fumia will answer questions about the nuts and bolts of the college application and financial aid process. Parents of juniors will have a special college guidance program on Friday, February 3 (Conference Day).

1:30–2:30 p.m.
Service Projects Seminar, First Floor, Meetinghouse
Foreign Language Trip and Service Project Coordinator Debbie DiMicco, and Associate Head of School Scott Spence talk about school-sponsored service projects and domestic and international service trip opportunities. Afternoon Athletic Events
2:00 p.m. Varsity Girls' Soccer vs. Lower Moreland High School (Home)
2:30 p.m.  Varsity Boys’ Soccer vs. Alumni (Home)
3:00 p.m.  Varsity Boys' Football  vs. St. Andrew’s School (Home)

Fall Break
Fall break begins after a student’s last school commitment on Friday, October 14. There are no classes on Monday, October 17. Boarders return to campus by 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17. Classes resume at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18.

Visiting Night: Tuesday, October 18, 2011

This evening is designed to provide additional opportunities to meet one-on-one with teachers.
