Deadlines

August 1. The Returning Student Physical form for 2011-2012 is due. Physicals must be performed between March 1 and August 1, 2011. There is a $50 late fee for any returning student physical received after August 1.

Upcoming Events

August 21. Academic Summer Program begins on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

August 22. Preseason begins on Monday August 22 for invited varsity potential athletes for soccer, football, tennis, cross country, and field hockey. Registration is held in Marshall Center Coffeehouse from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.

August 29. International Student Orientation begins on Monday. Students register in the Marshall Center Coffeehouse from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

August 29. International families attend a welcoming reception at Sunnybanke, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. 

August 31. SAGE members register from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m on Wednesday in West Main, Office 11.

August 31. Non preseason prefects register on Wednesday between 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. in West Main, Office 11.

September 2. New students attend picnics from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Girls will picnic at the William Penn Outdoor Auditorium and boys will picnic at the Generations Gazebo.

September 3. New students register on Saturday morning.

September 4. Returning boarders register in dorms from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

September 5. Returning day students register at 8:00 a.m. on Monday with their advisors.
 
September 5. Classes begin on Labor Day.

September 5 to October 7. A faculty art show is exhibited in Walton Gallery.

September 5 to October 21. David Fraser ’61 exhibits baskets in the Class of 1956 Gallery in the Anderson Library. 

September 12. Students can have professional portraits taken on Monday. They make perfect holiday gifts. Forms available online. A second portrait day for seniors will be scheduled later in the year.

September 18. New students and peer leaders are required to attend Outdoor Challenge events on Sunday.

September 20. The Parents Association meeting is held in the Anderson Library Conference Room on Tuesday, evening at 6:30 p.m., following a light meal in the meetinghouse at 5:45 p.m. Watch for details in the September Parent Plan-it. The meeting will be webcast.

October 10 to November 2. Student artwork is exhibited in Main lobby and Walton Center.

October 14. Fall break begins after the last class on Friday.

October 15. Visiting Day. Watch for detailed information on the Parent Portal later in September.

October 17. No classes are held on Monday.

October 17. Boarders return by 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

October 18. Classes resume on Tuesday.

October 18. Parent/teacher conferences are from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

October 28 to December 16. Randy Bolton exhibits printmaking work. Location to be determined.

December 5 to January 20. Aldo Magazzeni exhibits photography in Walton Center Gallery.

Reminders

Proof of student health insurance is required. If we have not received verification of your child’s private health insurance, he/she will be automatically enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare plan offered by George School and you will be billed for the $1,640 annual fee.

Driver Education classes. If you are interested in driver education classes for your child, classes will run on various Saturdays throughout the fall term beginning in September 2011. The Registration Form can be found here.

Driver’s License. For questions on how to obtain a driver’s license, please visit here.

Ground Transportation Information. If your child is traveling and needs ground transportation assistance to campus, please contact one of the companies listed below.

George School Bookstore. Our bookstore is currently closed for renovation.

Parents Association Archives. To view recordings of Parents Association webcast meetings, go to our secure portal, enter your password, and login. You will see a list of recorded meetings under Parent Information.

Parents Association Future Meetings. Parents Association meetings are held in the Anderson Library Conference Room on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on September 20, December 6, February 28, 2012, and May 15, 2012. All meetings are webcast. 

Parents Association Volunteer Opportunities. Please take a moment to look at the descriptions of the volunteer opportunities available for the 2011-2012 school year and sign-up via this electronic survey.

Annual Fund. The Parent Annual Fund Committee is seeking new members. If you wish to serve on the committee or have any questions, please contact Emily Shaker.

Exercise at George School. The SOURCE Institute for Human Performance at George School will be open all summer for parents, students, and friends of George School. A host of professional services will be offered, including individual training sessions, and small-group and team-training sessions. If you plan on exercising this summer, the SOURCE Institute at George School is the place to do it. Please call 215.579.6698 or email info@sourcepa.com to schedule your first session.

Summer Programs. Various programs are held during the summer at George School. Click here for more information about the George School Day camp and many other campus activities.

Registration 2011-2012. Registration for 2011-2012 is available online at my.georgeschool.org under the Parents tab. Please note that proof of student health insurance was due July 15 and Returning Student Physical forms are due by August 1.

Online Billing. Monthly statements of George School charges are available online at GS Accounts Online. Payments can also be made online or mailed to George School Business Office, PMB 4482, 1690 Newtown Langhorne Road, Newtown PA 18940-2414.

Bus transportation schedule. If your school district provides bus transportation to George School, you need to confirm that they are in service during our opening days and on holidays when we hold classes. See the George School Handbook for contact information.
