January 5. Philadelphia gathering at the Public House on Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
January 16. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be celebrated on Monday by all students participating in service projects with their advisors and other members of their Collection group. Some will travel to Philadelphia, Camden, and Trenton. Others will do service projects on campus. Please urge your children to attend the first-ever George School Day of Service.
January 23 to March 2. Student art work exhibited in Main and Walton Center Galleries.
January 30. Conference Night on Monday is an opportunity for parents to schedule individual conferences with teachers from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment, visit our secure parent portal. Parents may also attend Conference Day on Friday, February 3.
February 1. Financial Aid applications for the 2012-13 school year are due Wednesday. Applications can be submitted online through School and Student Service (SSS by NAIS). You will need the George School SSS Code: 3364. Upload or mail the required supporting documentation to SSS by the designated deadlines in order to guarantee the availability of financial aid funds. Applications received after that date will be considered if funds remain available. Visit Applying for Aid for more information.
February 3. The Conference Day schedule begins Friday morning. Classes end at noon. Parents can schedule individual conferences with teachers and attend morning workshops for college guidance, course planning, and more. Parents may also schedule conferences for Conference Night on Monday, January 30.

March 29. A photographer will be available on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Main Lobby to take senior portraits. A sign-up sheet for seniors to schedule their portrait-sitting appointments is available in the lower level of West Main, Office 11. For more information contact Carol Wozniak.

RemindersAnnual Fund. The Parent Annual Fund Committee would like to remind you of their goal of 100 percent participation; gifts of all sizes are appreciated. If you are not yet ready to make a payment, please consider making a pledge today and sending your payment before June 30. Assemblies. Parents are welcome to attend assemblies on Fridays at 10:25 a.m. in Walton Center. Check the calendar for program information.
Bad Weather Policy. As a boarding school, classes are rarely canceled even when buses are not running. We rely on your judgment about whether or not your child should come to school in the morning or leave early during the day. Please review our Bad Weather Policy.
Birthday Cakes for Boarders. Order a birthday cake for your child. Forms are online.
Bookstore. Visit our online bookstore this month for your favorite warm hoodie, knit hat, or sweatpants.
Bus Transportation Schedule. If your school district provides bus transportation to George School, you need to confirm that they are in service during holidays when we hold classes. Visit the transportation page for contact information.
Commencement and Year End Events. Visit our website for information about the senior dinner dance, commencement, and other end-of-school-year activities for juniors and seniors.
Contact Information. We use your email, telephone, and address information to reach you in case of emergencies and to share the latest campus news with you. Is your information up-to-date? Visit my.georgeschool.org, Parents tab, and Contact Information in Easy Connect.
Ground Transportation Information. If your child is traveling and needs ground transportation assistance to campus, please visit the transportation page for contact information.
Holiday Travel Plans. Boarding parents should contact Ginny Eccles in the Deans’ Office with specific travel information for the holiday break.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Examinations. The registration process for IB exams in May is underway. All fees for exams are set by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
Online Billing. Monthly statements of George School charges are available online at GS Accounts Online. Payments can also be made online or mailed to George School Business Office, PMB 4482, 1690 Newtown Langhorne Road, Newtown PA 18940-2414.
Parents Association Archives. To view recordings of Parents Association webcast meetings, go to our secure portal—my.georgeschool.org—enter your password, and login. Then select Parents Association. You will see a list of recorded meetings under Parents Association Meetings. We regret that we were unable to post a recording of the December 6, 2011 meeting because of technical difficulties. A helpful handout from that meeting is available entitled “The Parent Trap: Statements Heard Around the Globe Regarding Alcohol and Other Drug Use in Teens.”
Parents Association Future Meetings. Parents Association meetings are held in the Anderson Library Conference Room on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on February 28, 2012, and May 15, 2012. All meetings are webcast.
The SOURCE Institute for Human Performance at George School has a host of professional services available to parents and students, including individual training sessions, small group training, and team training. If you plan on exercising, the SOURCE Institute at George School is the place to do it. Please call 215.579.6698 or email info@sourcepa.com to schedule your first complimentary session.
Weekend Activities. On Wednesday afternoons the Deans’ Office posts information about weekend activities and special events.
