DeadlinesMay 20. The deadline for applying for independent summer service projects is Friday, May 20. Students may do a sixty-five hour service project—a graduation requirement—any time after completing their sophomore year. May 20. If a boarding senior has been invited to spend the night at a George School friend's house overnight after the Senior Dinner Dance, the host family must sign a special invitation form and return to the Deans' Office.
May 25. A boarding senior needs to turn in a regular overnight card to the Deans' Office by May 25 to stay overnight at a George School friend's home on May 26.
May 25. Permission from boarder's parent(s) due in Deans' Office by May 25 for May 26 dinner dance overnight.
July 15. Proof of student health insurance is required. If we do not receive verification of your child’s private health insurance by July 15, 2011, he/she will be automatically enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare plan offered by George School and you will be billed for the $1,640 annual fee.

Upcoming EventsMay 2. Career Workshops for students. Contact Advancement Assistant Tina DiSabatino or call 215.579.6564 if you are interested in hosting a speaker on Monday morning, May 2. You will need to arrive at George School by 9:30 a.m. The workshop is from 9:55 to 10:40 a.m.
May 13 to 15. Alumni Weekend. Parents, students, faculty, and alumni are invited to participate in Alumni Weekend activities.
May 13. Celebrate two events in McFeely Building. At 1:30 p.m. join John Davison’s history class: Eisenhower Years as Seen through the Eyes of Cartoonist Herblock. From 2:30 to 3:00 p.m., help us dedicate McFeely as a history classroom building and learn about former head of school Dick McFeely.
May 13 evening activity. Kick up your heals at the All-Community, Multi-Generational Square Dance on Red Square from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. We hope that parents, students, and alumni will enjoy this first-ever student-sponsored event held under the night sky—or in the Alumni Gym, if it rains.
May 14. Join athletes, coaches, and fans in a farewell parade for the athletic field and track and take a last lap under the banner of your choice: Track and Field, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football, Lacrosse, Cheerleading, or Cougar Fans. The staging for the parade begins at 4:00 p.m. and the parade begins at 4:15 p.m.
May 15. Support your favorite cause at the All-Community Fair from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Red Square. If you are an artist or craftsman and would like to display or sell your wares, if you are a performer and would like to show off your talents, if you are an activist and would like to raise money for your cause...please sign up for a table by contacting Emily Shaker.
May 17. The final Parents Association meeting for the academic year is Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. A light dinner is served in the meetinghouse at 5:45 p.m. The meeting begins at the Anderson Library Conference Room at 6:30 p.m. For those unable to attend, the meeting will be webcast. Minutes from prior meetings are available on our website.
May 22. The Cougar Classic golf tournament will be held at the Middletown Country Club in Langhorne, PA. Each year, the friendly and competitive outing helps to raise funds for the George School Athletic Department. Friends of the school, students, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as parents of current and past George School students are all welcome to participate in this fun event.
May 24. The last blood drive of the academic year is Tuesday, May 24. Blood donations will be accepted in Marshall Center from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please contact Bev Trautwein at 215.579.6593 if you have any questions.
May 26. Senior Parent Reception at 6:30 p.m. at Sunnybanke hosted by Head of School Nancy Starmer and the Parents Association.
May 26. Senior Dinner Dance for seniors and their dates.
May 27. Boarders out overnight return to campus by 10:00 a.m. Permission from boarder's parent(s) due in Deans' Office by May 25 for May 26 dinner dance overnight.
May 27. No classes.
May 27. Commencement meeting for worship at 4:30 p.m. in the George School Meetinghouse.
May 28. Commencement, in the William Penn Outdoor Auditorium at 10:30 a.m. Parents, please keep in mind that if you are placing an online order through this link you do not need to register or use any passwords.
May 30. Memorial Day, no classes.
May 31 to June 3. Final exams. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors leave after their last exam.
August 1. The Returning Student Physical form for 2011-2012 is now available. Physicals must be performed between March 1 and August 1, 2011. There is a $50 late fee for any returning student physical received after August 1.
August 22. Preseason for invited varsity potential athletes for soccer, football, tennis, cross country, and field hockey begins on Monday, August 22.

RemindersStudent Bank Accounts. Please remind your child to report to the bank to update the status of his or her account. Underclassman with a TD Bank ATM card, cash, or checkbook may store these items in the Student Bank over the summer if they will not be used. Commencement and Year End Events. Visit our website for information about the senior dinner dance, commencement, and other end-of-school year activities for juniors and seniors.
Parent Annual Fund. The Parent Annual Fund Committee urges you to please consider making your gift or pledge today so we can reach our goal of 100 percent participation. As of April 28, we are at 49 percent. Donations are due June 30.
Summer Programs. Various programs are held during the summer at George School. Click here for more information about the Summer Minds academic program, the George School Day camp, and many other campus activities.
End-of-Year Checklist. Visit our website for important year-end dates, exam schedule, travel plans, and information about moving out of the dorms.
Registration 2011-2012. A link to the Registration Checklist for 2011-2012 is posted on the home page of the Parent tab on our secure portal. Please note that proof of student health insurance is due July 15 and Returning Student Physical forms are due by August 1.
Post Office Hours. The George School Post Office will be open as follows on Friday, May 27, 8:00 to 4:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 28, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and Monday, May 30, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Regular hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Online Billing. Monthly statements of George School charges are available online at GS Accounts Online. Payments also can be made online or mailed to George School Business Office, PMB 4482, 1690 Newtown Langhorne Road, Newtown PA 18940-2414.

George School Bookstore. Visit our online bookstore this month for your favorite t-shirt, baseball hat, or shorts.

Birthday Cake. Order a birthday cake for a boarding student. Forms are online.
Assemblies. Parents are welcome to attend assemblies in Walton Center on Fridays at 10:25 a.m. and on some Mondays throughout the school year. Check the calendar for program information.
Weekend Activities. On Wednesday afternoons the Deans' Office posts information about weekend activities and special events.
