Upcoming EventsSeptember 6. Classes are held on Labor Day. September 8. School portrait day on Wednesday. A perfect holiday gift. Forms available online. Retakes will take place on October 25. Seniors also may schedule their portraits later in the year.
September 10-12. Outdoor Challenge Weekend, new students and peer leaders are required to attend on Sunday.
September 18. IB art field trip to Washington, DC. Contact Pam Grumbach for more information.
September 19. Pam Grumbach's "A Show of Friends" art exhibit reception, Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in Walton Gallery. Exhibit runs from August 28 through October 8.
September 21. The Parents Association meeting begins at 5:45 p.m. with dinner in the meetinghouse followed by the meeting at 6:45 p.m. in the Anderson Library Conference Room. The meeting is webcast for those unable to come to campus. The agenda is available at www.georgeschool.org/parents/pa.
September 23. Wendy Wolf "Learning Repetition" gallery talk and reception, Thursday at 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Anderson Library Class of 1956 Gallery.
September 25. George School and Pennswood Village will collect used bicycles on Saturday for Bikes for the World, an organization that sends bikes to Latin America and Africa. For more information contact Mabel Houghton.
October 16. Visiting Day is on this Saturday. Watch for detailed information on the Parent Gateway next month.
October 16. Fall break begins after the last class on Friday. There are no classes on Monday, October 18. Boarders return October 18 by 7:00 p.m. Classes resume Tuesday, October 19.
October 25. School portrait retake day. Forms available online.

RemindersHosting international students. We are looking for volunteers to serve as a local host family for a student or host an international student during short breaks. Click here for program details. Contact Marion Wells or Richard Polgar, international student sponsors, for more information.
Check your contact information. We use your email, telephone, and address information to reach you in case of emergencies and to share the latest campus news with you. Is your information up-to-date? Visit my.georgeschool.org, select Parents, and select Contact Information in Easy Connect.
Pay your bill online. Monthly statements of George School charges are available online at GS Accounts Online. Payments also can be mailed to George School Business Office, PMB 4482, 1690 Newtown Langhorne Road, Newtown PA 18940-2414.
Parent Association meetings. Meetings for 2010-2011 are scheduled on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on September 21, December 7, March 1, and May 17.
Volunteer Opportunities. Volunteers are needed for a number of different activities. Please review the VolunteerOpportunities and sign up to help us via our volunteer survey.
Parent Annual Fund. Please consider joining the Parent Annual Fund Committee to help send emails or make phone calls to parents requesting gifts for the Annual Fund. Gifts directly benefit our students by providing the best environment for their education. If you are interested, please contact Emily Shaker.
Assemblies. Parents are welcome to attend assemblies on Fridays at 10:25 a.m. in Walton Center. Check the calendar for program information.
Weekend Activities. The Deans' Office posts information about weekend activities and special events on Wednesday afternoons.
Order a birthday cake for a boarding student. Forms are online.
George School Bookstore online. Visit our online bookstore this month for your favorite back-to-school T-shirt, hat, or student planner.
Bus transportation schedule. If your school district provides bus transportation to George School, you need to confirm that they are in service during our opening days and on holidays when we hold classes. See the George School Community Handbook for contact information.
