DeadlinesSeptember 9. SAT test registration due. Seniors should register well ahead of the September 9 deadline for the October 1 test date to ensure George School is available as the test center. Contact College Guidance at 215.579.6538 for more information.

Upcoming EventsSeptember 2. New students attend picnics from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Girls will picnic at the William Penn Outdoor Auditorium and boys will picnic at the Generations Gazebo.
September 3. New students register on Saturday morning.
September 4. Returning boarders register in dorms from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
September 5. Returning day students register at 8:00 a.m. on Monday with their advisors.

September 5. Classes begin on Labor Day. There will be no bus transportation on Labor Day.
September 5 to October 7. A faculty art show is exhibited in Walton Gallery.
September 5 to October 21. David Fraser ’61 exhibits baskets in the Class of 1956 Gallery in the Anderson Library.
September 6. The Community Swim Program will begin its eighth year for lap and open swimming on Tuesday. Full annual memberships and pay-per-swim plans are available.
September 11. Rehearsals begin for Community Chorus, a non-auditioned chorus of students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, friends, and neighbors. All are welcome, from the beginning choral singer to the more experienced. Contact Jackie Coren at 215.843.5254 or jackie_coren@georgeschool.org.
September 12. Students can have professional portraits taken on Monday. They make perfect holiday gifts. Forms available online. A second portrait day for seniors will be scheduled later in the year.
September 18. New students and peer leaders are required to attend Outdoor Challenge events on Sunday.
September 20. The Parents Association meeting is held in the Anderson Library Conference Room on Tuesday, evening at 6:30 p.m., following a light meal in the meetinghouse at 5:45 p.m. The meeting will be webcast. Webcasts of past Parents Association meetings are available in the Parent Portal.
September 24. George School and Pennswood Village will collect used bicycles for Bikes for the World, an organization that sends bikes to Latin America and Africa. For more information contact George Kurz.
October 10 to November 2. Student artwork is exhibited in Main lobby and Walton Center.
October 14. Fall break begins after the last class on Friday.
October 15. Visiting Day. Watch for detailed information later in September.
October 17. No classes are held on Monday.
October 17. Boarders return by 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
October 18. Classes resume on Tuesday.

RemindersProof of student health insurance is required. If we have not received verification of your child’s private health insurance, he/she will be automatically enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare plan offered by George School and you will be billed for the $1,640 annual fee.
Driver Education classes. If you are interested in driver education classes for your child, classes will run on various Saturdays throughout the fall term beginning in September 2011. The Registration Form can be found online.

UpdatesDorm Phone System Cancelled. Due to lack of use, wired telephone service will no longer be provided in the dormitories for students.
Day Student Vehicle Registration. Day students must register all vehicles they expect to drive and park on campus. Registration is handled by Emergency Services throughout the academic year. Students should immediately report any midyear changes in vehicle or vehicle registration to Emergency Services.
Bicycle Registration. Bicycles need to be registered through Emergency Services and obtain a decal.
George School Bookstore. Our bookstore is now open after a summer of renovations.
Parents Association Archives. To view recordings of Parents Association webcast meetings, go to our secure portal—my.georgeschool.org—enter your password, and login. Then select Parents Association. You will see a list of recorded meetings under Parents Association Meetings.
Parents Association Future Meetings. Parents Association meetings are held in the Anderson Library Conference Room on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on September 20, December 6, February 28, 2012, and May 15, 2012. All meetings are webcast.
Parents Association Volunteer Opportunities. Please take a moment to look at the descriptions of the volunteer opportunities available for the 2011-2012 school year and sign-up via this electronic survey.
Annual Fund. Thanks to the 53 percent of parents who donated to the 2010-2011 Annual Fund campaign, we surpassed our milestone goal of $1.15 million. Monies raised directly benefit our students each year. The Parent Annual Fund Committee (PAFC) organizes the activities, which include sending emails and making phone calls to other parents, as well as brainstorming new ideas. If you are interested in joining the PAFC for 2011-2012, please contact Emily Shaker.
Online Billing. Monthly statements of George School charges are available online at GS Accounts Online. Payments can also be made online or mailed to George School Business Office, PMB 4482, 1690 Newtown Langhorne Road, Newtown PA 18940-2414.

Bus Transportation Schedule. If your school district provides bus transportation to George School, you need to confirm that they are in service during our opening days and on holidays when we hold classes. See the George School Community Handbook for contact information.
Quaker Worship. You and your family are invited to participate in Quaker worship on any Sunday at any of the several meetinghouses in this area.
The SOURCE Institute for Human Performance at George School has a host of professional services being offered, including individual training sessions, small group training and team training.
