Treasurer’s Report – Bob Haberle

Head of School’s Report – Nancy Starmer
Nancy Starmer opened her remarks with an acknowledgement of closure of the first term and the hope that all was satisfactory. A good deal of time was spent in communicating programs in play that focus on modalities to encourage the students toward good and responsible decision making. This was in anticipation of the distinguished guest speaker planned for the evening. Some examples were cited that arose in meeting for worship that demonstrated her point.

Deans’ Office – Catherine Ezzo
Dean of Students Catherine Ezzo also took a moment to expound upon the need to recognize life issues
that confront our children and the stresses that arise with drug and alcohol exposure.
Logistics of the upcoming December 17 Holiday Dance were revealed and also noted was a shopping
excursion set to leave George School for the King of Prussia Mall set for December 10.

Student Council Representative Report – Campbell Alden and Faith Gentilucci
The mission of the Student Council is to act as liaison between students and faculty.
Subcommittees that were discussed included: Dining Hall Food, Safety and Drug and Alcohol Committee (DAC), George School Committee, and Deans’ Advisory Group. Clubs and their value were discussed as well as the logistics involved in starting new clubs.

Faculty Representative – Colette Weber
Collette introduced herself as the new faculty representative. Collete is in the English Department and also teaches Theory of Knowledge. Collette shared the gracious comments from faculty about the Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

Parents Association Committee Updates – Gwen Hodges
Winter Formal. Parents are requested to provide snacks and finger foods as well as small bottles of water.

Cookie Drop. The first cookie drop of the year went very well and on this occasion cookies were also provided for day students in addition to boarders. The next cookie day will be March 1, 2012, and reminders will be sent out two weeks prior.

Lasagna Dinner Night. The date is set for February 2, 2012. Help is still needed for provision of lasagna from parents. Those interested can find details on the survey page at the web site.

Career Day. This year, former George School students (Class of 2000) will be highlighted.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon Committee. Gwen Hodges elaborated upon comments made previously about the success of the luncheon.

Party Planning Committee. A venue remains undefined at this stage.

Parent Annual Fund. Brochures were mailed to all families. Any amounts are accepted. In addition, pledges may be made with payments due by June 30, 2012.

Parent Program – “Talking With Teens” – Brenda Conlan
Our guest speaker delivered a riveting and poignant presentation of the needs of children at this age, the need for communication, and the means in which this may be effectively delivered to their children. The presentation, in full, is available on the George School website.
