Who does the center serve?

George School employees and the greater community may apply to have their children cared for at the center. As a smaller center, we strive to maintain low student to teacher ratios in every classroom.

What is your school year?

GSCC is an academic year program that begins late August and ends in mid-June. At this time, we do not offer a summer program. However, George School operates a summer camp for children ages 4 and up.

What are your hours of operation?

The center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Do you have a waiting list?

From time to time, we have a waiting list for some age groups. Contact us to inquire about our current availability.

Do the children go outside to play?

As a play based center located on the beautiful 240-acre George School campus, our children go outside to explore every day.

Do children have to nap?

Each classroom has a quiet naptime. Children who do not sleep rest quietly on their mats and may be offered quiet activities or books.

Do you teach children about Quakerism?

No, but we will teach children about the things we believe. We will teach about simplicity, non-violence, respect for others, and the ability to make a difference in the world.

Do you have a high level of staff turnover?

Our staff is very stable. Some of our teachers have been with us for more than twenty years.

What are the staff qualifications?

The Children’s Center Director has a Director’s credential, as well as a doctorate in education with a specialization in early childhood and special education. Lead teachers have either an associate’s or a bachelor’s degree. Many of the assistant teachers have college degrees, as well.

Do the teachers have training in first aid and CPR?

The center provides bi-annual training for all staff.

Do you offer after-school-care?

Not at this time.

Is drop-in care available?

Not at this time.

Is a discount available for siblings?

We currently offer a sibling discount.

How is tuition collected?

Tuition is payable in one lump sum or in monthly installments beginning in August.

Do you serve lunch and snacks?

Children bring their own lunches, but snacks are provided by the center or families.

How do you handle food allergies?

We are a peanut/tree nut aware center. We do our best to keep our center nut free.

Are there any additional fees?

There is a yearly snack fee. Occasionally there are other activity fees.

Do you participate in the Keystones Star program?

Yes, GSCC is a Star 3 center. Learn more at http://www.pakeys.org/.
