It becomes apparent when you inspect her heavily stamped passport, that Olivia Christine Perez ’04 has no fear of the unknown. She has been all over South America, Eastern and Western Europe, Southeast Asia, and is currently “roadtripping across America.”
Olivia was recently recognized as one of the top travel bloggers by Parlour Magazine. Her interview included a list of things that she can’t travel without—her medicine (at age 16 she was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis), her passport, Baby Wipes (“you can’t imagine how handy they are!”), her laptop, and phone.
When asked the top lessons she’s learned while traveling, Olivia said, “Before politics, before religion, before country lines – we were and ARE one. Travel truly reminds you how much your soul can connect with complete strangers, because maybe we aren’t strangers after all.”
Her blog, ochristine.com (http://www.ochristine.com/), combines travel guides, reviews, wellness advice, and inspirational stories. Included on her blog are stories about travel with Alex Dettmer ’06.
“I’m Olivia: a travel and wellness writer, Lupus Nephritis fighter, and yoga teacher. I used to be extremely unhappy with my job, bad health, and life, so decided to start over. I sold almost everything, set out to travel the world, and even found love along the way. Now I’ve been to more than thirty countries, write about living well, and encourage those with Lupus and other challenges to break through and live the life they deserve.” Read more.
