Dismissal for seniors is at 1:30 p.m. All appointments should be made after 2:00 p.m.
Senior Dinner Dance
Time: 5:00 p.m. for photographs* on Red Square; buses leave George School at 6:00 p.m.
All students must travel by bus.
Place: Jasna Polana, Princeton, NJ
Note: Parents are welcome to drop by Red Square at 5:00 p.m. to take photos of the students who will be gathered there.
Cost: The ticket price for members of the Class of 2018 and their guests is not yet finalized. The seniors have been raising funds to reduce the price of each ticket and to provide a further discount to classmates who may need financial assistance in order to participate. Your support of their efforts is much appreciated.
Senior dinner dance tickets will be sold after spring break and can be charged to the student’s George School account until April 27. After that date only cash will be accepted for the purchase. Students may charge more than one ticket only with parental permission. Contact Rebecca Missonis or Sara Rhodin to give permission by email.
Return: Departure from Jasna Polana will be at 10:45 p.m. and buses should arrive back at George School between 11:00 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Please pick your child up promptly.
Attire: Richard Levin from Rochester Formal Wear will be available outside the dining room in Main Lobby on March 5. He will measure boys who would like to rent tuxedos. Rochester Formal Wear will also be available on March 29 for anyone who missed the March 5 fitting.

Senior Parent Reception
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Place: Mollie Dodd Anderson Library
There will be a reception in the Mollie Dodd Anderson Library for parents of seniors immediately following the departure of their children to the senior dinner dance. Please fill out the RSVP form below.
Saturday, May 26, 2018
Time: noon to 3:30 p.m.
Place: Gather in Marshall Center to process to William Penn Outdoor Auditorium for rehearsal (FAC, Geissinger Gym).
Note: It is very important for every senior to attend the rehearsal for the entire time. If a senior does not attend the rehearsal for the entire time, his/her participation in the ceremony on Saturday will be jeopardized.
Attire: Casual and comfortable. Girls must wear their commencement shoes for rehearsal.
Commencement Meeting for Worship
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Place: George School Meetinghouse
Attire: Please select clothing that you would wear if you were going to a celebratory dinner with your family at a fancy restaurant.
Note: Families are invited to join their children for meeting for worship. Seniors and juniors are expected to attend.
Time: 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Place: Off campus or Main Dining Room
Enjoy a family dinner at a local restaurant or have dinner in the dining room.

Seniors arrive: 8:45 a.m.
Seniors must be dressed and in Main Dining Room at 8:45 a.m. for the pinning of roses, photo on South Porch at 9:30 a.m., and then lining up in Marshall Center at 10:00 a.m. The inclement weather location is in the Fitness and Athletics Center, Garrett Family Studio for the pinning of roses. The rain location for the photo and line-up would take place in the Fitness and Athletics Center, South Gym.
Seniors should give their cell phones to a family member before the class photo is taken. Phones should not be returned to seniors until the conclusion of the commencement ceremony.
Ceremony Time: 10:30 a.m.
Place: Outdoor Auditorium directly west of the meetinghouse at the base of South Lawn.
Livestreaming: The ceremony will be available on George School Livestream at https://livestream.com/GeorgeSchool/2018Commencement.
Inclement weather location: Fitness and Athletics Center, Geissinger Gym. Please check the George School website for updates if the weather is uncertain.
Attire: Seniors must be uniform in their attire. The girls must wear all-white, mid-calf or longer dresses (the elevation of the stage makes shorter dresses potentially embarrassing), a slip underneath the dress, and white shoes (white rubber flip-flops are not appropriate). It is important that the dresses be white, not ivory. (If you have doubt about whether your dress is in keeping with our expectations, hold it against a sheet of white printer paper.) Dresses should be at least four inches below the bottom of the knees. No off-white or colored trims, please. No bare midriffs or skin-tight clothing. Girls must have their actual dresses (not photos of them) approved by Barb Kibler or Maureen West by Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
The boys’ commencement attire includes white dinner jackets, black bow ties, white shirts, black trousers, black shoes, and black socks. All jackets and ties must match. To make this easier, all the clothing (except for black socks) is rented from Rochester Formal Wear. They will come to campus for fittings. The charge to rent the white dinner jacket, black bow tie, white shirt, and black trousers is $79. For an additional $12, black shoes may be rented. These charges will be on your spring bill under incidental expenses.

Senior boys should pick up commencement attire at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21 in Marshall, Coffeehouse. Returns should be made on May 27 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. in Marshall, Coffeehouse.
Seniors are asked not to wear any additional clothing not listed above. If students are not properly attired, they will not be permitted to participate in commencement. If you are making plans after commencement, please allow approximately one and a half to two hours for the ceremony.
Class Photograph: A class photograph will be taken at 9:30 a.m. on the South Porch of Main Building. The inclement weather location is the Fitness and Athletics Center, South Gym. This photograph, a DVD of the commencement ceremony, and a photo of your child receiving his or her diploma is available for purchase. Please click here if you wish to order these items.
Generations Photograph: In addition to the senior class photo any senior who had a parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent who attended George School will be photographed together. (Any of these alumni relatives are encouraged to join the students in this photograph. Plan to come to South Porch of Main Building, for the photo immediately after the 9:30 a.m. class photo.)
Guests: There is no limit to the number of people you may invite, but seating is limited if there is inclement weather. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. When arriving early, you may reserve no more than four seats per graduate. On a sunny day, it can get very hot sitting in the outdoor auditorium. Guests may want to wear a hat and sunscreen.

There will be golf carts available to transport handicapped guests from their cars to the seating area. There are no designated seating areas.
Time: Immediately following commencement
Place: Picnic grove. The inclement weather location is in the Fitness and Athletics Center, South Gym.
Guests: All of your guests are invited to this buffet luncheon at no charge.
Notes: Boys’ rented clothing should be returned on Sunday, May 27, between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. to the Coffeehouse located on the upper level of Marshall Center. Boys should return their tuxes after changing into other clothing. Please do not change in the Coffeehouse.
Boarders: Seniors must move out of the dorms by 4:00 p.m. on the day of commencement.

To commemorate your child’s commencement, you may purchase the following DVD and photographs.
DVD (in DVD-R format) with the commencement ceremony, photos from the gathering on Red Square before the Senior Dinner Dance, and an overview of campus. $40.
Class of 2018 commencement photograph, a George School classic, 8” x 10” in black and white. $18.
Your child’s photograph, receiving his or her diploma from Head of School Sam Houser, 5” x 7” in color. $18.
Class of 2018 Keepsake Blanket and Pillow
Class of 2018 keepsake blanket and matching pillow features the George School tree. The bookstore will also have a George School Meetinghouse blanket that features the meetinghouse but no class year. Please order by May 1, 2018. Click here to order.

Students with George School debit accounts need to stop by the Business Office before Friday, May 25, to close out their account. The bank will be closed on the day of commencement.
During commencement rehearsal or commencement cell phones are not permitted.
International students’ passports are kept in the Deans’ Office. Students may pick up their passports on Sunday, May 27, before 10:00 p.m.
Post Office and Bookstore
For your convenience, the school post office will be open on Friday, May 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The post office will be closed on Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28. The bookstore will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27.

Assisted and Handicap Parking Instructions
Assisted and handicap parking will be in the P1 Parking Lot on the Pennswood Village property, adjacent to George School’s campus. From there, golf carts will take visitors directly to the William Penn Auditorium for the Commencement exercises. There are no designated or reserved handicap seating areas, so make sure to arrive early to secure desired seats.
Directions to the handicapped commencement parking if traveling south on Newtown Langhorne Road (Route 413):
Drive past George School (on right) and Newtown Friends School. Turn right at the traffic light onto Pennswood Village Road. Follow Pennswood Village Road to the end and take a right. Make the first right into the parking lot. It will be marked P1.
If traveling north on Newtown Langhorne Rd (Route 413):
Turn left at the traffic light onto the access road to Pennswood Village and Newtown Friends School. If you see George School’s campus on your left, you have gone too far. Once on Pennswood Village Road, proceed to the end and make a right. Make the first right into the parking lot, it will be marked P1.
