George Long ’13

Amherst College
“The people at George School believe the world can be better and society can be different. By going to George School, I knew that I would be able to make the world a better, kinder place after I left.”

Describe someone at George School who made a big impact on you.

While I find it quite challenging to select one person, I must highlight Katie Lumpkin, a kind lady who works in the dining hall and whose contagious smile fills the room. Every day at breakfast, I could look forward to a hug and a piece of advice from Katie before I went on my way. I may not have realized it at the time, but the way Katie brightened my day was invaluable. She woke me up with her energetic presence and instilled a positive attitude in me as I went to class. Having grown up at George School, I felt the love of this dear woman from a young age and will take her passion and care with me into the world.
