JoceLynn Labossiere ’19

Binghamton University
JoceLynn may have missed her first family, but at George School she found her second one.

Was it hard to live away from home? What helped?

Kim Hebron, an administrative assistant in the deans’ office, acted as my GS mother. Being a boarder meant that I did not see my family often, but she helped me feel less homesick. She was always there to give me warm hugs and kind words. She truly helped to bring out the better me.

Living in a dorm was also an amazing experience. It is as if your best friends become your siblings because you live with them and see them constantly.

What did you learn from being an athlete?

Playing three sports, I learned that it is more about the team than about me as an individual. It was amazing to make ten shots in basketball, but it was more important that the team won the game.
