Julia Smith ’18

Nazareth, PennsylvaniaFranklin & Marshall College
Julia found her second family as a boarder.

Were you nervous about boarding?

Living on campus and away from home was unnerving at first. I wasn’t sure if I would fit in or have a nice roommate, let alone make any friends. But once I stepped through those doors and into my new dorm at the beginning of every year, I felt as if I’d found my second family. The dorm gatherings and constant jokes around check-in—like about who left their laundry in the washer—made my experience so memorable.

What was a memorable weekend on campus?

One of the exciting events at George School is winter formal. The whole school gathers in anticipation to dance, laugh, and spend time together. Every year I made so many memories with my friends, both boarding and day students.
