George School is pleased to announce that thirteen students have received Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for their writing work.

“We are very excited that George School students have done so well once again this year,” said Colette Weber English department head. “This is a big competition with many schools taking part. Writing is a way for students to enter a wider societal discourse. It is a way of throwing your hat into the ring of ideas. Literature is often a reflection of a society’s anxieties and conflicts. You can see this in many of these pieces.”

Award recipients are Deuce Black ’19, Joseph Cifelli ’19, Hanna Ketema ’19, Josie O’Neal-Odom ’19, Annarose King ’19, Cat Orescan ’19, Josh Saskin ’19, Nkenge Boyles ’19, Charlie Haigh ’19, Chloe Lentchner ’19, Liam Mitchell ’19, S. Mitch Reilly ’19, and Emma Schneider ’19.

Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, creativity, skill, and talent of our nation’s young people. These awards continue to celebrate, showcase, and inspire young artists.
